These last two weeks and til the end of Ramadan, we are together (more than 70 of us!) offering a type of unceasing prayer and worship to the Lord for Kyrgyzstan, a wave of prayer and worship starting in the time zones of Central Asia and moving westward, and continuing throughout the day in many places across the globe. Coming to the end of another week of this daily, global wave of prayer (with many others praying for other countries and Muslim peoples during Ramadan), the beautiful words to this hymn come to mind.

The Day Thou Gavest Lord Is Ended
The day thou gavest, Lord, is ended
The darkness falls at Thy behest
To thee our morning hymns ascended
Thy praise shall sanctify our rest
We thank thee that thy church, unsleeping
While Earth rolls onward into light
Through all the world, her watch is keeping
And rests not now by day or night
As o’er each continent and island
The dawn leads on another day
The voice of prayer is never silent
Nor dies the strain of praise away
The sun that bids us rest is waking
Our brethren ‘neath the western sky
And hour by hour fresh lips are making
Thy wondrous doings heard on high
So be it, Lord, thy throne shall never
Like earth’s proud empires, pass away
Thy kingdom stands, and grows forever
‘Til all thy creatures own thy sway

Today let’s pray for the global church, to be strengthened and stirred to be this unsleeping church where “The voice of prayer is never silent/Nor dies the strain of praise away.”
Let’s pray for ourselves and our families and churches, that God would continue to draw us into partnership with Him in prayer–praying for His kingdom to come. Let’s pray that we would become more and more well-acquainted with our “prayer closets” and that prayer would affect every aspect of our lives and communities. Let’s pray for the church in Kyrgyzstan, that the prayer and worship that God has ordained to come from this culture and place would arise as a pleasing fragrance to Him.
Exalting His Name
For from the rising of the sun to its setting my name will be great among the nations, and in every place incense will be offered to my name, and a pure offering. For my name will be great among the nations, says the Lord of hosts. —Malachi 1:11, ESV
Worship and Waiting
Perhaps a bit more of your time today can be spent in worship and stillness. You can note anything that comes to you or just enjoy being with the Lord.
